Worship Team

If you are a musician looking for a place to offer your talent and express your praise to God, come check us out. Each Sunday morning the praise team practices at 7:30am, but when needed additional practices are held on a weeknight (time to be announced). We are looking for talented musicians in the Smithville area who would be interested in using their talents for the Lord through worship and praise.

We have a worship team of singers & musicians that are leading our early service with a powerful anointing and a fresh moving of God’s Spirit through the contemporary sounds of worship. If you would like to explore further the possibilities of becoming involved, contact Jonathan Watson at jwatson@smithvillepres.com

Traditional Morning Worship

Our purpose in worship is to lift up the name of Jesus, to give glory and honor unto our Heavenly Father through Christ our Lord, and uphold the integrity of God’s holy word through all that is said and done. Our worship has meaningful structure yet freely invites the leadership and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Singing the wonderful hymns of the faith and the refreshing choruses of sweet communion, our choir leads us with heartfelt praise and testimony in song. The warmth and friendliness of corporate worship revives and refreshes our spirit and challenges each of us to go out into our community with love for those around us and provides the motivation to speak a kind word and lend a helping hand to all in need. Please come join us in worship.
Nursery and Children's Church is available for nurture and Christian instruction.
The Nursery is for infants through 2 years of age.
Children's Church will be made available when needed for ages 3 - 7 years.

Choir

Our choir brings a special quality to each worship service leading the congregation in the traditional morning worship while opening each service with the choral call to worship and closing with a choral postlude. Our choir sings an anthem each week during the traditional morning worship service, with featured solos, duets, or choral sections. Each year the choir presents an Easter Cantata and a Christmas Cantata. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be a part of our choir.

Choir Director - Sammye Frazier is our Choir Director and organist. Dorothy Estes is our church Pianist. We are grateful for the way in which they both give their talents and service to the Lord.

Getting Involved With Choir - We are always happy to have those who would be interested in serving the Lord through participation in our church choir. Our choir believes that making a joyful noise to the Lord is most important. Singing from the heart is all that matters. Choir practice is Sunday morning at 9:00am, and Wednesday evening at 8:00pm. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be a part of our choir. back to top

Sunday evening is always a special time of worship. We design this service to be very laid back and relaxed. We sing and worship, we pray for those in need, and we preach the Word of God. Sunday evening is like a retreat and a time of refreshing, as we get ready for the coming week. Come and join us each Sunday evening in the 39 & Holding class room. Cross Walk

Cross Walk is a mid-week ministry, from 5:00 –7:45pm each Wednesday, designed as a system of nurture for our youth and children. This unique ministry is directed and led by members of the congregation. Parents and youth alike are involved in each Cross Walk evening of ministry. There are four segments of the Cross Walk evening. Worship skills, activity building, Bible study, and the dinner hour. We enjoy a fall and spring semester that operates in conjunction with the school calendar. If school is canceled so is Cross Walk. Our semesters are approximately 12 weeks in length. Each night has a special theme and everyone dresses according to the theme. The cost is two dollars per evening per child & per adult and we ask that everyone pay by semesters. The cost simply helps pay for the food. No family will be required to pay more than ten dollars per evening. Below are descriptions of the four areas of our Cross Walk ministry.

Cross Walk Worship skills – This is where children and youth learn the importance of worship, why we worship as we do and what each aspect of worship means, They also learn to lead the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings sharing songs, drama, and many other creative acts of worship.

Cross Walk Activities – This is a time where youth and children become involved in activities such as crafts, games, special interest such as auto mechanics, art, woodworking, etc…

Cross Walk Bible study – This time is used to build integrity for God’s word in the life of our children and youth, a time for faith building, discipleship, and application for daily living.

Cross Walk Dinner Hour – For many of the children this is the most exciting part of the evening. The children and youth are seated at a table of their peers along with a table parent who helps direct the activity of the table and keep everyone involved and orderly. Each week a different youth or child acts as server for their table. The server goes to the kitchen and brings the food to the table. We have a person called the Dinner Dean who directs table games after everyone is finished eating. This becomes a wonderful experience for building community and relationship.

The combination of these four segments of ministry and the involvement of the vest number of adults it takes to provide this type of nurturing experience makes for a wonderful family ministry. Cross Walk is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make church an exciting place for our children where faith is caught as well as taught.

Children’s Ministry

Wednesday
When Cross Walk is not in session Children's ministry is offered on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00pm. The format can often include some of the same aspects as Sunday evening, and also provides extra time to work on special productions. You can be sure there is never a dull moment for our children on Sunday or Wednesday nights.

Sunday
We are pleased to offer children’s ministry each Sunday evening from 6:00 – 7:00pm. Our children ministry provides fun and games, snacks, crafts, bible lessons and our dedicated staff is always preparing the children for plays, musicals, cantata's or puppet ministries to name a few. We have a very creative staff working together in this wonderful ministry. They receive assistance from other concerned parents, and are always ready to put others to work.
